Summary

Anuja Chauhan’s “Baaz” is the story of a young charismatic Flying Officer Ishaan Fauzdaar; Shaanu to his relatives and loved ones, and Baaz to his colleagues and friends.

He comes from a small village called Chakkahera in Haryana and although he is quite good at English, he involuntarily reverts to Haryanvi in moments of passion and pain.

Ishaan is always polite and macho, and he always has daughters who swoon over him, but as a simple boy as he is, he is waiting for “someone special”.

Young Tehmina Dadyseth is not a girl that men will want to take home to their mothers.

She is independent, strong-willed, extremely confident and modeled in a skimpy bikini under a waterfall promoting a foreign soap brand.

While these characteristics certainly make her attractive to the opposite sex, they will never qualify her for the role of an “ideal Indian wife”.

But Ishaan is different.

Even though Tehmina repeatedly and shamelessly says that she hates war and everything related to war, Ishaan is determined to woo her.

So “Baaz” is basically the story of Tehmina and Ishaan, it’s more Ishaan’s story than Tehmina’s, and you’ll have to read the book yourself to know more than that.I refrain from revealing it anymore for the sake of spoilers.

The plan of the book is perfect.

It is set in the war-torn year 1971, when Bangladesh is on the verge of independence and India is helping in its efforts against the biased regime of West Pakistan.

The plot is neither too Deconstructed nor too simple. In fact, it is perfectly balanced Decoupled between these two extremes.

The characters steal the show.

Ishaan is a character that will touch your heart and stay with you for a long time after you finish reading the book.

If you are a girl, you will definitely fall in love with him.Although he is a little cocky and just a little flashy, he is a cutie and is made of the stuff dreams are made of.

Tehmina is definitely a lucky girl! The other characters are just as fascinating.

I especially liked Chaudhari Chimman Singh Fauzdaar’s typical Jat-ness.A character that amuses and repels me at the same time.

Ishaan’s cast of friends, consisting of Raka, Maddy and Juhi, is also interesting enough to give you serious friendship goals.

Anuja has a way with words. All the characters are so dynamic and larger than life that you can visualize them very well in front of you.

Kainaz Dadyseth, Macho Da, General Nikka Khan etc.Even the less important characters of the were very descriptive and vivid. It will be heartbreaking if this book is not turned into a movie.

Therefore, it is likely that his books created the magic that they did.
